Basics of Charging
Traditional Hybrid Charging: Traditional hybrid vehicles charge strictly through regenerative braking. Regenerative braking is available in all types of electric vehicles. It regains charge through braking. Traditional hybrids have the smallest battery of any electric vehicle type.
Plug-In Hybrid Charging: Plug-in hybrid SUVs offer larger batteries and must plug in to regain the majority of their juice. Drivers can plug in to Level 1 home outlets, Level 2 home charging stations, Level 2 public charging stations, or even DC fast chargers.
EV Charging: EVs require the same basic charging needs as a plug-in hybrid, but for bigger batteries. As EVs rely solely on electric power, they feature larger batteries and multiple electric motors, which require longer charging times. DC fast chargers can generally regain up to 80% power within half an hour for EVs.
